School Ki Yaadein

The very thought of my school life gives me a pleasant feeling. Our school gang was one hell of a group with the motive “Fun and more fun“. Studies was the last concern we had in our minds till 12th std pubic exams started to haunt us.The ideal day would start like this. I would get up by 7:30 and then laze around for an hour to get all the pre-bath activities completed. Shyam would start from his place @ 8:30 and has to stop at my place just because it is on the way to our school. The moment he is near my house I would enter the restroom to take BATH. Bathe I do for some 15 mins minimum. Shyam always knew that it was like trying to chase and catch his own shadow in getting me ready so that we could reach school in time, but fail did he miserably in all his attempts to do that. And after his repeated pleas for me to get ready, I would oblige and grace my bi-cycle and start to the place where we can have fun. Reaching school @ 8:55 when we were supposed to be there by 8:40 is the first sin, and then trying to convince the PT teacher I coming late is because I had to repair a flat tire is the worst possible reason someone could deliver. Reason why I would say that this lame excuse is the worst possible one, because 4 days out of a 6 day week, you cannot have a flat tire.It is not that lying intelligently was beyond me or shyam; it is just that we thought why should we rustle our cerebrum for a punishment which we are going to enjoy. The punishment would be to grace the class verandah for some 3 or 4 class-hours, which is quite refreshing and enjoyable, given the fact that we stood a chance to gain on two grounds, first being we do not have to listen to all the crap being dished out, and second the neem tree just outside our class pumping our lungs with fresh air for the hard day ahead. The hard day and the grind associated would start from the 4th class hour, 4th class hour being the last one before LUNCH. Our guys inside the classroom would be waiting for us with arms spread out and expectations that we (myself & shyam) will convince the PT teacher for volley ball practice for the rest of the day. This is when we had to gather all our untapped energy from our so called crooked brains and lay out a LIE which would convince the PT teacher for an all day volley ball practice.Right from that moment, myself and shyam are seen as the saviors sent from heaven by, our class guys. Believe me, no one would deny the above. And then it starts and continues till 3:30 pm, our volley ball practice. It was sometimes serious practice and the rest of the time only fun.Post the sweat drenching practice, it would be time for us to separate and start back home, only for 2 hrs though. Because after all the irritating tuition classes in those 2 hrs, SNMS98 would assemble on the terrace of 11/11 Thambiah reddy road for a fun filled 2 or 3 hrs. Our eternal Cricket discussions, and plastic ball cricket matches would leave us physically drained and it would time to make the chat vendor “Mathura” richer by 100 rs, or donate some 40 or 540 rs to “venkataramana boli stall”. Day would end with a positive mindset that tomorrow will be better with not 4, rather 5 periods of volley ball practice.
